Charlotte Irish Session
The Charlotte Session is a very informal session held at our neighborhood Common House in Charlotte.
We hold it pretty regularly on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month (so as not to conflict with the Jericho session, which is 1st and 3rd Thursdays).
This session has the benefit of being more like a “house session” without a tremendous amount of public pressure, as one might have in a pub or other public venue. It’s also quieter… food and drinks welcome too. So while it’s pretty much a standard Irish session, it’s not unheard of for us stop a tune that’s falling apart and start over, or even try to pick our way tentatively through a tune at the encouragement of, say, the one person who knows it well.
I never know who’s coming to this session, but it does have the geographical advantage of sometimes getting players from points south, like Middlebury, for whom Jericho or Montpelier can be too far a stretch. Sometimes it’s just a group of 3 or 4 people, sometimes over a dozen. Skill levels vary widely, but all our welcome.
