Revels Spring Singers Concert

24 March 2018
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Whipple Hall

Director’s Corner
Artistic Director, Nils Fredland

Lately, I feel like I don’t know what weather to prepare for. Every couple of days offers something completely new! This unpredictability brings up some practical implications in the Fredland household; there simply aren’t enough hooks and boot trays by the door to hold all the necessary gear for a family of four to be ready for cold, warm, mud, snow, rain, ice… By the time you’re reading this, we will be digging out from the latest major snow storm–and who knows what comes next?

Of course, we do know. spring will come (eventually), and summer, and fall, and winter again. The cycle of the seasons is at the core of what we celebrate at Revels North. It’s no coincidence that our major programs happen around the solstices and equinoxes; these are moments during the year when we have the opportunity to connect with something ancient, steady, and certain. We might experience the tug to slow down, reflect, find gratitude, and experience a few peaceful moments.
We at Revels North have been experiencing our own version of preparing for the unpredictable. After a year of strong vision and steady leadership, Lyndsay Rose stepped down from the Executive Director position at the end of February, leaving a solid foundation for our new Executive Director, Brian Cook, to continue building upon. I’m beyond delighted that Brian has jumped right in, lending his voice to the Spring Singers in its inaugural year.
The Spring Singers–a multi-generational community chorus of 30 individuals from all over the Upper Valley and beyond–have been gathering weekly since the end of January to rehearse songs on a winter-to-spring theme. We perform twice this month, and would love to have you join us in the audience! If you’ve been to Revels performances before, you can anticipate an invitation to join us for a song or two. Add your voice to the choir!
