YTV is going to Northumberland! Eighteen young musicians, singers and dancers will travel with a handful of adult chaperones on a performing tour through Northumberland, England next year. The trip will complete an exchange with “The Northumberland Ranters” – a group of 37 young traditional musicians that Young Tradition Vermont hosted in early April. The tour is scheduled to take place April 20-26, 2014 and will include the northernmost county in England, on the Scottish borders, with a foray across the border into Scotland. Rehearsals for the YTV touring group will begin this week. As the group perfects the show several preview concerts and events will be offered in Vermont. Stay tuned to the YTV events calendar for dates. Fundraising efforts will soon be underway to offset some of the tour-costs.Famously named ‘The Land of Far Horizons’, Northumberland is filled with miles of gentle landscapes and unspoiled golden sandy beaches. The county is home to more castles than any other in England and also forms the final frontier of the Roman Empire along Hadrian’s Wall. We’ll do plenty of performing, but will also have time for discovering magnificent castles and the filming location of movies such as Harry Potter and much more.
