Improvisation Workshop with Jazz Violinist Regina Carter

Thursday, May 29
4:30 to 6:00PM
Flynn Center – Amy E. Tarrant Gallery

Open to Intermediate to Advanced String Players (Ages 14 and up)
Cost: Free

For Regina Carter, the violin isn’t merely an improvisational vehicle: it’s a passport to other worlds, from jazz to classical and soul and beyond. Over more than two decades, Carter has established herself as an enduring and creative force, making music that is listenable, intelligent, and daring. This workshop will teach string players to develop and strengthen improvisation techniques.

Workshop participants will receive a 50% discount on tickets to Regina Carter’s Friday night performance on the Flynn Mainstage. Carter opens the 2014 Burlington Discover Jazz Festival with her latest project, Southern Comfort, an exploration of her father’s Alabama roots and the country-bluegrass of her childhood.
