Save the date! Young Tradition Vermont’s annual Mentor/Mentee (or Teacher/Student, or Parent/Child) showcase is scheduled on May 6, 2017!
The annual Young Tradition Showcase, in which teachers of traditional music and dance perform WITH their students, has for several years been a chance to honor the work of teachers and students alike, and celebrate the passing on of traditions to new generations.
In years past this event was held in February. This year, it has been rescheduled as part of the Young Tradition Weekend in early May. The showcase will take place on the evening of Saturday May 6 in Contois Auditorium at City Hall in Burlington.
The weekend begins with an educator’s conference on Friday May 5th and a contradance that same evening, also at City Hall. Saturday May 6th will feature our yearly contest for young musicians and dancers, in which the audience does the voting. In the evening awards will be presented to contest winners, and short performances will be featured by teachers and students together. More info about the weekend here: https://youngtraditionvermont.org/2012/06/young-tradition-weekend-2/.
The intent is that combining these events on the same weekend will allow young players, singers and dancers to make more connections, and increase the experience for those attending the events.
Mark your calendar for the first weekend in May, and consider being part of the weekend. If you are interested in signing up for the showcase, you are welcome to do that with a message to email@example.com.
