Hilari Farrington and Benedict Koehler are regulars in Vermont’s Irish traditional music scene. They have played and taught widely at Irish festivals and events such as the Catskills Irish Arts Week, the Chris Langan Weekend in Toronto, the St. Louis Tionol, the Northeast Tionol, the Piper’s Gathering, and the Champlain Valley Folk Festival.
Mayfly is Americana duo Katie Trautz and Julia Wayne, who perform music which draws on Appalachian and New England close harmony singing and instrumental music traditions.
Pascal Gemme is a well known Quebecois fiddler and member of the French Canadian trad trio Genticorum. Marie-Soleil Pilette is a Quebecois dancer, teacher and choreographer who frequently blends traditional quebecois jigging with modern contemporary dance styles.
This year’s Trad Camp instructors are among the best and most respected musicians and teachers from New England and beyond, and include Pete Sutherland, Brian Perkins, Sarah Hotchkiss, Oliver Scanlon, Jane Oxnard, Clayton Clemetson, and Annika Amstutz.
Trad Camp is Young Tradition Vermont’s annual summer day camp held at the Lake Champlain Waldorf High School in Shelburne, VT for kids ages 8-17. The camp is a concentrated opportunity to be inspired by, learn about and perform folk tunes, songs, and dances in a variety of traditional styles.
