The Zeichner Trio will be representing Young Tradition Vermont in concert at the 40th Annual Shelburne Farms Harvest Festival this year on September 15. The Shelburne Farms Harvest Festival is a full-day celebration of Vermont farm and food traditions. Artisans will share their skills and crafts and delicious farm-fresh food, and entertainers will perform on multiple stages.
Siblings Yasi, Oliver, and Louli Zeichner didn’t intend to become a family band when they first began playing traditional music in the hills of central Vermont. But after becoming involved with Young Tradition Vermont in 2012, they began to perform more frequently at different local festivals and benefit events. Today their band – which consists of Louli on 4 and 5 string banjos and Celtic harp, Oliver on pennywhistle and ulleann pipes and Yasi on fiddle – plays a mixture of traditional Irish and Old-Time/Appalachian tunes at venues across Vermont. The trio has played at events such as the Burlington International Festival, the New World Festival in Randolph, the Celebrate VT Festival in Stowe, the Big E in Springfield Mass., and Farmer’s Night at the Vermont Statehouse.
The Zeichner Trio has gained a reputation in the community through word of mouth as a young, up-and-coming traditional band in the state of Vermont. In addition to festival performances, they have played farmers markets, concerts, weddings, and private parties and housewarmings.
Other folk favorites who will be performing at the Shelburne Farms Harvest festival this include local trad roots power-trio Pete’s Posse, New England dance band Atlantic Crossing, traditional step-dancing troupe Celtic Company, and the Green Mountain Cloggers.
