Thanks everyone who attended the Frankie Gavin concert on Monday, the 3rd time we’ve had to honor of hosting a solo concert by him. We couldn’t do it without our partners at the Burlington Violin Shop and Vermont Violins – thanks to Kathy and Oren for always welcoming us and being a haven of fine instruments, and our home base for this evening and so many others over many years. We have had and will continue to have opportunities to see and hear great trad musicians from throughout the world in this intimate place.
If you or someone you know don’t get messages about these events via email or on the website, make sure we have their e-mail address so you’ll know about what’s coming up, including concerts by Beaton~Plasse, Altan, Liz Carroll, Alasdair Fraser, Maire Rankin and many more.
Frankie is one of the true greats of trad music in general, Irish music specifically. When you say names like Michael Coleman, James Morrison, Paddy Killoran, Jean Carignan – there are not many who belong in the same category – Frankie is certainly one of them. He’s the only person we know who is been honored with a postage stamp, played with the Rolling Stones, and performed for four US presidents (not the current one!), including John F Kennedy when Frankie was six years old.
Those who have seen them before knew what they were in for – for first timers, they were certainly astounded.
