Instrument Petting Zoo at the Vermont International Festival

You could make the difference for YTV in being able to carry out commitments to the Vermont International Festival on Wednesday December 4th and especially Friday December 6th.  Mark Sustic will be there for all of these activities, but to make it happen, we need to count on a few others helping out.  The Vermont International Festival is a fantastic opportunity to introduce who we are and some of what we do – and the instrument collection – to 1,000 to 1,500 school-age children.  Its definitely some work, but its also joyous and rewarding.  Hope you can jump at the chance :))

Here’s what we need:

Wednesday December 4:

  • Help 1 or 2 others load instruments for the instrument petting zoo from the music room at Integrated Arts Academy in Burlington after 3pm, then drive to and help unload the same instruments at the Champlain Valley Fairgrounds in Essex Junction, where the will be stored until Friday.  1.5 to 2 hours or less assuming 3 or 4 people helping: at least 30 minutes carrying instruments out and loading into a van at the school, 30 minutes or less getting from there to the fairground, 30 minutes or less unloading at the fairgrounds.

Friday December 6:

  • Help 2 or 3 others ‘zoo keep’ for at least one 3-hour shift (e.g. 8-11, 9-12, 10-1, 11-2, 12-3) during the petting zoo installation (set up between 8 and 9, pack up after 2/2:30).  3 hour shift with breaks as needed while others cover.
  • Help load instruments for the instrument petting zoo at the Champlain Valley Fairgrounds in Essex Junction at 3pm, then drive to and help unload and shelve the same instruments at Integrated Arts Academy in Burlington.  About 90 minutes assuming 3 or 4 people helping: 1.5 hours to 2 hours or less loading the van at the fairgrounds, 30 minutes or less getting from there to the school, at least 30 minutes unloading and shelving instruments at the school.
