Touring Group ends with Final Concert 8/12/20

Like everyone and everything around us, the 2019/2020 Touring Group has been through a lot since gathering for the first time at the Flynn Center in Burlington almost a year ago, and since our last rehearsal and evening performance at the Chandler Center in Randolph in early March, almost 6 months ago.

A lot that we had planned didn’t happen – rehearsals and concerts in April and May, performances at the Young Tradition Festival, the Sutton Fiddle Festival and the New World Festival, as well as the April trip to Japan.

That tour was cancelled as the final project and replaced by an intense effort to create a southern New England trip including invitations to play at the New England Folk Festival in MA and Fiddleicious in Maine…..

Then THAT was cancelled and replaced by an intense effort to create a Quebec trip with stops in the Eastern Townships and Montreal……

Then THAT was cancelled and replaced by a complicated effort to do a CD project ……

THAT too was cancelled and replaced with a decision to do a final video project.  The result are the 2 videos linked here.  Those premiered on 8/12/20 for the first time.
Everyone can be proud of what you can see and hear on the videos.  We walk away from the 2019/2020 Touring Group with our heads held high, new and renewed friendships, and great memories from 8 rehearsals that did happen including at the Flynn Center and Elley Long Music Center, a 3-day December retreat at Rock Point in Burlington, concerts and rehearsals in Barre, Greensboro and Randolph, and pop-up performances at a Climate Strike at City Hall in Burlington and the Flurry Festival in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Its been a tough 6 months, for so many, in so many ways.  A final online concert on 8/12/20, where these videos were premiered, was our best attempt to get the 2019/2020 Touring Group to a final place with some beauty, joy and quality.  To a degree it helps transcend the difficulties, the disappointments, the tensions, and the challenges we faced along the way.

If you’ve got comments, we’d love to hear from you.
