Thanks to Andrea, Stephen, Terry, the planning committee, staff and everyone else at Wake Robin in Shelburne for inviting Young Tradition Vermont to present performances by young musicians, starting on 9/24/20 featuring Hadley and Maeve.
YTV uses traditional music and dance to inspire young people, to give them opportunities to learn and to perform, and to use their inspiration and their abilities to serve and support people in their communities. YTV operates 30 programs, and Hadley and Maeve have been involved with many of them, including Trad Camp, Fiddleheads, the Instrument Loan Program and Instrument Petting Zoo, the Youth Commission, and the Touring Group, with whom they’ve traveled to and performed in Scotland, Cape Breton and metro New York and New Jersey.
As we all endure until the virus loosens its grip, Hadley and Maeve performed in a courtyard for the Linden building, with everyone appropriately distanced and masked, some in chairs and benches, and more from windows of their rooms surrounding the courtyard.
Both Hadley and Maeve are talented singers and multi-instrumentalists, but stuck to playing fiddles for this event. Everyone was inspired and enjoyed an hour of fun tunes and stories. The hardest part was distancing the meet and greet and appreciations at the end of the hour.
