Touring Group part of United Nations/UNHCR program for World Refugee Day 6/20/21
World Refugee Day is an international day designated by the United Nations/UNHCR to honor refugees around the globe. It falls each year on June 20 and celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. It is an occasion to build empathy and understanding for their plight and to recognize their resilience in rebuilding their lives. Many activities held on World Refugee Day create opportunities to support refugees.
YTV has partnered with USCRI Vermont https://www.facebook.com/USCRIVT in the past on music and dance programming for this annual recognition. In addition, YTV has supported and promoted New American performance groups like Diversity Rocks, the Bosnian Lilies, the Bhutanese Nepali Cultural Heritage Dance Group and others, and worked with the Vermont Folklife Center and others on the New Neighbors project. YTV has featured performances by New American artists and their students at the Young Tradition Festival, Trad Camp, Touring Group and other programs and activities.
2 Touring Group videos were included as part of this year’s online World Refugee Day in Vermont.
