Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas concert
Thanks to all who attended the 10/2/21 Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas concert at Elley Long Music Center in Colchester, with 2021 National Junior Fiddle Champion Owen Kennedy opening. About 90 attended in person, about 20 others attended online, which made it as close as we could get to safe and comfortable, right and possible.
Couldn’t have happened without those who did their part buying a ticket. Thanks for your support and faith in us! Some important organization/business partners were essential, including the Vermont Youth Orchestra Association/Elley Long Music Center (especially Brian Johnson), Mike Green and Associates, Vermont Public Radio (thanks Gail England), Best Western Windjammer (shout out to Jeff B), Vermont Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts. Stellar crew too, just the best: Oliver Scanlon (sound), Duncan Yandell (video streaming), Danielle Devlin (merchandise and hospitality), Deborah Travis and Christina Kennedy (vaccination and testing checks), Kate Haughey (tickets). Couldn’t dare do without the support and encouragement of those who make contributions during our annual appeals (coming up soon for 2021) and grant sources that support general operations.
This was the first concert presentation by YTV with a live audience since Altan in early March 2020. Alastair and Natalie were game to do it, we wanted to do it, folks we talked to about it were excited, and the COVID protocols, though not what we would wish we had to do, made it possible. We had never used eventbrite for tickets, but that worked well. Everyone I heard from agreed it was good and important thing to make it happen. So great to see and visit (safely) with old and new friends. The event went well enough to bode well for maybe trying some similar events in the coming months.
