Maris Wolff & the Vermont Dance Collective

Diary of a Westward Journey is a dance/theater piece based on pioneer women’s diaries, letters, and reminiscences of the mid-1800’s wagon-train movement to reach the “land of golden promise” of the American West. Dancers depict the crossing of the Great Plains, treacherous mountains, raging rivers, and the desolate desert. They convey both the hardships and the beauty, the friendships and deaths, the sorrows and the joys of this long, arduous, and dangerous passage.
