13 November 2020 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm Live Stream
Friends: As part of what’s sure to be a lovely recital on Friday, November 13, Mary Bonhag will be performing a set of five little songs I wrote a couple of years ago, settings of prayer/poems by my son Henry’s partner, Lauren. I’m sad that this performance won’t be an in-person one, but am greatly looking forward to it, and hope you can attend! — Don Jamison
I hope you will join me on Fri., Nov. 13 at 7:30 pm for my virtual Vocal Recital, an exploration of music inspired by my own personal religious and spiritual practice, live-streamed from the Highland Center. I will be joined on this program by Burlington-based pianist Hiromi Fukuda and share parts of a special conversation I had with Reverend Rona Kinsley.
This concert was postponed from last March due to the coronavirus, and I’ve re-worked the program, looking at it now in the context of a global pandemic and national awakening to systemic racism — selecting pieces that resonate with me at this time and with my own faith.
Leading up to the recital, I hope you’ll sit in (virtually, of course!) on my Open Practice Session next week on Thurs., Nov. 5 at 3 pm to get an inside glimpse into how I go about preparing for a concert.
This selection of music has brought me much comfort and perspective at this time, and I hope it will do the same for you!
