27 September 2019 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm Music Recital Hall
$30 Adult | $5 Student
Max Hatt and Edda Glass, who open the Lane Series this Friday, play original music that has been called Jazz-Americana. It’s also been described as Cinematic Folk Jazz, because the music is very evocative of image and landscape. It would be the perfect music to listen to if, say, you were driving across the state of Nebraska in an introspective mood. It is also going to sound very beautiful in our recital hall, with its incredible acoustics.
Edda’s voice is very special, both with her jazz-influenced phrasing and with her earthy timbre. And Max is simply a superb acoustic guitarist, with a subtle and elegant style that partners her voice perfectly. They will be joined by the bass play Clipper Anderson, who is a regular with the likes of Michael Brecker, Arturo Sandoval, Bucky Pizzarelli, Paquito D’Rivera, Phil Woods, and Buddy DeFranco.
They’ve won lots of awards and accolades, but are still something of a well-kept secret for East Coast audiences.
Edda Glass will be giving a workshop for students of UVM jazz faculty members Amber de Laurentis and Tom Cleary on Friday, September 27, from 12:30-1:45pm. Please join us at the UVM Recital Hall to watch, listen, and learn!
