“One of the best musical groups in the world.” —Huffington Post
Five-time Grammy-winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo are the most successful singing group to come out of South Africa. Formed in the early ‘60s under the leadership of Joseph Shabalala, the group shot to international stardom when singer/ songwriter Paul Simon incorporated their rich harmonies into his quintessential masterpiece, Graceland. The singers were a favorite of the late Nelson Mandela and traveled with the future South African president when he received the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo. Now led by Joseph’s sons, Ladysmith sustains their original message of peace, love, and soul-soaring harmony well into their seventh decade.
